1Introduction

MyNautra is a maritime job-matching platform that connects seafarers and maritime professionals with employers, crewing agencies and shipping companies. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share and protect your personal data when you visit our website, create an account or use our services.

We process personal data in line with the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 ("NDPA") and other applicable data protection laws. By using MyNautra, you confirm that you have read and understood this Policy.

2Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information.

  • Account information: your name, email address, phone number, password, country and account role (seafarer, employer or administrator).
  • Profile and career information: your rank, vessel types, sea service history, qualifications, preferred regions, availability and job preferences.
  • Documents and credentials: CVs, STCW certificates, Certificates of Competency (CoC), flag state endorsements, medical certificates, passports or seaman's books and other documents you choose to upload to your document vault.
  • Employer information: company name, registration details, contact persons, job postings and hiring activity.
  • Payment information: subscription plan, token balance, transaction records and billing details. Card details are handled by our payment provider and are not stored by MyNautra.
  • Communications: messages between seafarers and employers, support requests and feedback you send us.
  • Usage and device data: IP address, browser type, device identifiers, pages viewed and actions taken on the platform.

3How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • create and manage your account and verify your identity and credentials;
  • match seafarers with suitable jobs and help employers find suitable candidates;
  • review and correct CVs you submit through our CV correction service;
  • track applications and send notifications about their progress;
  • process subscriptions, tokens and payments;
  • provide support and respond to your requests;
  • improve, secure and develop the platform, including our automated assistance features;
  • prevent fraud, abuse and misuse of the platform; and
  • comply with legal and regulatory obligations.

4Lawful Basis for Processing

We process your personal data on one or more of these bases: your consent; performance of a contract with you; compliance with a legal obligation; and our legitimate interests in operating, securing and improving MyNautra, provided these do not override your rights. Where we rely on consent, you may withdraw it at any time.

5CV Upload and Correction

When you upload a CV for correction, we and our authorised reviewers will access it solely to review and improve it. We aim to return the corrected CV within 2 to 3 days. The corrected CV is sent to the email address on your account, after which you may re-upload it for your job applications.

Your CV is not shared with any employer unless you apply for a job or choose to make your profile visible.

6How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only as follows.

  • With employers: when you apply for a job, or where you choose to make your profile or credentials visible, the relevant employer can view that information.
  • With seafarers: employers' company details and job postings are visible to seafarers.
  • With service providers: payment processors, cloud hosting, email delivery, analytics and support providers acting on our instructions under written agreements.
  • With authorities: where required by law, court order or a lawful request from a regulator or law enforcement body.
  • In a business transfer: if MyNautra is involved in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, your data may be transferred, subject to this Policy.

7International Transfers

Maritime recruitment is global, so your data may be accessed by employers or service providers outside Nigeria. Where we transfer personal data across borders, we do so in line with the NDPA and use appropriate safeguards such as contractual protections.

8Data Retention

We keep your personal data for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide our services, resolve disputes, enforce our agreements and meet legal obligations. When you delete your account, we will delete or anonymise your data within a reasonable period, except where we must keep it by law.

9Security

We use technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit, access controls and secure storage for uploaded documents. No system is completely secure. You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for notifying us promptly of any unauthorised access to your account.

10Your Rights

Under the NDPA, you have the right to:

  • be informed about how your data is used;
  • access the personal data we hold about you;
  • correct inaccurate or incomplete data;
  • request deletion of your data;
  • restrict or object to certain processing, including direct marketing;
  • withdraw consent at any time; and
  • receive your data in a portable format where applicable.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details in Section 14. We will respond within the timeframe required by law.

11Cookies

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, understand how the platform is used and improve performance. You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling some cookies may affect how the platform works.

12Children

MyNautra is intended for users aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.

We may update this Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page with a new "Last updated" date and, for material changes, notify you by email or on the platform. Continued use of MyNautra after changes take effect means you accept the updated Policy.
